Yeah, you should. I should actually ascend a valkyrie sometime; as far as I've played them, they really do seem to be as easy as everybody says. Half damage from everything? Sweet.
I'm not sure I'd call knights a melee class. They actually do best mounted and dancing just out of melee reach with the lance, occasionally jousting for big damage and a stun. Then somewhere midgame they transition into a nice mixed pounding/casting class, with heals (keep mount healthy), create sacrifice, and obscenely powerful magic missiles added in to the tap, tap, pound, withdraw, repeat routine. Did I mention the obscenely powerful magic missiles?
I need to relearn how to play classes which start the game soft and squishy. I've been doing too much knight, valkyrie, and monk lately; I forget to keep back enough.
