The FedEx Man Cometh

FedEx came again with a box of games for me just as I was heading out the door to do laundry. 18"x18"x12" full of games. What a beautiful sight.






It's interesting. It's not as though I've never seen this many games in one place before. Indeed, I've opened boxes containing this many games before. This is just the first time they're mine. I kind of feel like I've gotten away with something.

I played a demo of it at GenCon (actually, I played a demo of it sometime in the last year or two at Arisia, I think it was, too). It's fun enough. I'm not a big fan of Apples to Apples. It plays very similarly.

Damn. I'm not much of a fan of Apples to Apples either. I was hoping this would have more meat to it.

Categoria is where it's at for Apples to Apples clones, IMO.

X Machina has a definite fun factor with the Rube Goldberg theme, but the game play at the end of the day is Apples to Apples. You can't get too excited about your victory, but you can have fun along the way.

If you're looking to offload any of that, I'd happily make a bid for the Deliria book. I keep meaning to pick it up, but I never seem to.

*grin* Indeed. With nifty signatures on the boxes. And one of them conveniently dented so it would be tough to offload even if I wanted to.

I definitely won't be keeping everything. I keep hearing such good things about Deliria that I think I'm probably going to want to give it a read before deciding to part with it, though. I'll get back to you.

I like Deleria.

I mean, you'll want to look at the patch on Laughing Pan's site, since it's a decided improvement, and I've had argumetns with Phil and will again (and avoided through a major act of will having an argument this past Gencon, when his answer to "why did you make 'my character is a semi-animate object with nearly as much functioning as a human being' an advantage that cost points" was "you're looking at things from the player perspective"), but there's a huge amount of cool stuff there.

I have played with actual physical cards, but they were at a party with a high BSW attendence, and they might have been kitbashed.
