Possibly the last of the presents in the mail from last month arrived today.

Flat black aluminum case with chrome hinges, latches, handle, and corners; black plastic feet on two faces. Filled with chips and the usual accoutrements (dice, dealer button, cheap cards).

The chips are 11.5g weighted composite. I've just found a link online to the description of them and image here. The chips have a graphic on one side and a marked denomination on the other, but I think the denominations will work with the numbers we've been using if they're read as "cents" rather than "dollars" (they don't specify unit, just quantity). There are 225 green chips marked "25", 125 black 100s, 50 purple 500s, 50 blue 1000s, 25 red 5000s, and 25 yellow 10,000s. They have a pretty satisfying heft and clink to them.

FedEx came again with a box of games for me just as I was heading out the door to do laundry. 18"x18"x12" full of games. What a beautiful sight.

See for yourself )

It's interesting. It's not as though I've never seen this many games in one place before. Indeed, I've opened boxes containing this many games before. This is just the first time they're mine. I kind of feel like I've gotten away with something.

A poster tube arrived today. It has two signed posters with artwork from the Allegiance CCG, laminated mats showing the card positions for Street Warriors, and an uncut sheet of HexHex.

The posters are cool, but I already have a ton of artwork I've been meaning to put up on my walls and haven't gotten around to mounting. The HexHex sheet is quite nifty, but again with the wall space. Also, it's really big and, while I quite enjoy the game, I'm not sure I love it that much. The other things, I have no idea what I'm going to do with.

I feel sort of ungrateful, in a way. I get this cool stuff, and my second thought is, "What am I going to do with this?" Although I guess since my first thought was, "Wow, this is really cool stuff," I'm doing ok.

I wasn't planning to post about GenCon just yet, as I still have a playtest report to write from notes, but...

A company called Cheese Weasel Logistics, who make a very cool product called the Card Coffin, have been nice and friendly every time I've been to their booth at a convention, and who not only kindly donated a Card Coffin to the NSO at Origins '04 when I asked at their booth, but gave me another one when I stopped by to thank them during Origins '05 (I didn't ask this time, honest), ran a very cool meta-game at GenCon this year. It started with a man standing outside the Exhibitor's Hall with an exclamation mark over his head announcing loudly, "This item starts a quest."
