Step 1: Get your playlist together, put it on random, and play
Step 2: Pick your favorite lines from the first 25 songs that play
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly.

Well, after about a day of working on it, I've listened to 25 songs and am ready to post. The last few days I've been listening to the mp3s from a backup CD I found a couple weeks ago. I'll be highly interested to see who recognizes what.

1. I see them through a crystal haze, and hear their sweet sounds bouncing 'round a neverending coral maze. Phish — "Bouncing Around the Room" ([livejournal.com profile] penguinkraft)
2. Say unto me, Is it better to be safe or sorry? A-Ha! — "Take On Me" ([livejournal.com profile] soulchanger and [livejournal.com profile] selftoken together)
3. I'll take your part, oh, when darkness comes, and pain is all around. Simon and Garfunkel — "Bridge Over Troubled Water" ([livejournal.com profile] soulchanger)
4. You say, 'I only hear what I want to.' Lisa Loeb — "Stay" ([livejournal.com profile] penguinkraft)
5. I was last in my class, barely passed at the institute; now I'm tryin' to avoid, yeah I'm tryin' to avoid a malpractice suit. "Weird" Al Yankovich — "Like a Surgeon" ([livejournal.com profile] selftoken)
6. Oh, I've had it up to here! No Doubt — "Just a Girl" ([livejournal.com profile] soulchanger)
7. The angel opens her eyes, the confusion sets in. Live — "Lightning Crashes" ([livejournal.com profile] penguinkraft)
8. I was feeling part of the scenery, I walked right out of the machinery, my heart going boom, boom, boom. Peter Gabriel — "Solsbury Hill" ([livejournal.com profile] andrianna)
9. People always told me, 'Be careful what you do, don't go around breakin' young girls' hearts.' Michael Jackson — "Billie Jean" ([livejournal.com profile] soulchanger)
10. I stopped an old man along the way, hoping to find some long-forgotten words or ancient melodies. He turned to me as if to say, 'Hurry boy, it's waiting there for you.' Toto — "Africa" ([livejournal.com profile] selftoken)
11. ...and pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space, 'cause there's bugger all damned here on earth. Monty Python — "The Galaxy Song" ([livejournal.com profile] deyaniera)
12. Like anyone would be, I am flattered by your fascination with me. Alanis Morissette — "Uninvited" ([livejournal.com profile] soulchanger)
13. And what it all boils down to, is that there's somethin' that I haven't figured out just yet: Is that a pickle in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
14. ...so I can, so I can keep track of visions in my eyes. Cory Hart — "Sunglasses At Night" ([livejournal.com profile] selftoken)
15. He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking. Can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding. They Might Be Giants — Your Racist Friend ([livejournal.com profile] andrianna)

20. ...and she dances on the sand, just like that river twisting through the dusty land. Duran Duran — "Rio" ([livejournal.com profile] soulchanger and [livejournal.com profile] penguinkraft together)

Special bonus song, because it came on right after the last one, and I couldn't resist including it:

My highest score by far on one of these. I also know that 2 is Take On Me, but not by who. 8, I'm sure is Paul Simon - I can complete the lyrics but can't place the song title. 18 is Sunny Came Home, but I forget the singer. 20 is called Rio - I forgot this singer too.

8. Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel (One of my all-time faves!)
15. Racist Friend by TMBG

I'm a bit amazed that even with there be so little on your list left to guess, that I was able to still pull out some song titles.

#11- Monty Python "The Galaxy Song."
#23- Primitive Radio Gods "Standing outside a broken phone booth..."

Loooooove Solsbury Hill

I don't know Good Riddance, are they punk? That's my best guess.
Let us say that my origins lie further in the past than [livejournal.com profile] soulchanger and [livejournal.com profile] penguinkraft, and that's why I think I got the ones you thought would take more time.

I don't know, I used to sing along with that one. *grin* I loved Primitive Radio Gods, and I'm still sad they haven't put anything out since then.

OK, I know #26, but that tape is at my mom's house, so I don't know the artist, so I won't spoil anything. But now I have a great image in my head... heehee Dude, if I'm swinging from vines in my head and suck on this final, I'm totally blaming you. ;)
*hugs*

If no one is going to jump on #26, then it's Jungle Boy by Baltimora (or is it Baltimore?). Anyway, yeah. That song comes up quite often at Rocky's trivia.

And thank you for #13. I am now going to have "Hand in my Pocket" stuck in my head for days.

Did I say Jungle Boy? Ooops. I meant Tarzan Boy, obviously. Sorry, long day. I'll go sleep now...
