Rode home in the snow again tonight. The snow was probably twice as deep as last time. I had to walk my bicycle off campus, as the snow was too deep for me to ride in it (I couldn't get enough power to make the bicycle move forward against the friction of the snow; at least in the gear I was in). Riding home using almost exclusively the low end of my gear ratio range, in snow, is definitely more of a workout than my usual ride home. I think I'll treat myself to some more hot cocoa.
Snowy Cycling
Ain't it though? Every time I muct ride in the winter, I thank my lucky stars that I had the forethought to purchase a mountain bike. Granted, Argo's not geared as low as would be practical for full-time snowy-mountain-biking goodness, but for the everyday, winter's riding, he's a great companion.
And any wintry outdoor excercise absolutely requires hot cocao afterwords! (That's why I'll never be fully happy anywhere without winter; no good excuse for cocao.)
