I've achieved my second milestone in my quest to complete The Legend of Zelda swordless. Yes, that's right, I've added another level of difficulty to the challenge I've set myself. There are now three stages to the challenge for each quest:

1. Win the game without ever picking up the wooden sword.
2. Win the game without ever picking up the wooden sword or the white sword.
3. Reach Ganon's chamber with 12+ heart containers, the bow, and the silver arrows.

The milestone I achieved this morning is getting 12 heart containers without having any sword. I've decided to skip over winning the game from here (I've won the game a couple of times, no need to do it again) and move right on to challenge #3. Once I get there I may go pick up a sword and kill him.

...and I took screenshots. The first is me chatting with the "old man at the grave". He says, "Master using it and you can have this." Notice that I'm not holding a sword.

The second is me now holding the magical sword, just to prove that I can pick it up now. (I saved the game before taking these screenshots so I can continue with my quest.)

(Oh, and, for the record, no, I'm not using any emulator save/restore features to aid me. I think my current death toll is around 18.)

... Very very impressive. I've managed it once, but it took ages and hurt like hell.
Then I tried it on the 2nd quest and decided even I wasnt that crazed..

Speaking of that game, are there really 16 heart containers in the 1st quest? I've a memory there are, but last play-through, I only found 15..
