I don't really like posting here just to whine (which might explain why I don't post all that often), but I'm going to anyway. My allergies have been acting up this week, leading to poor sleep, rampant sneezing and blowing of the nose, and, now, a sore throat that's making it difficult to breathe.

Have just made myself a pot of ginger tea (good thing I had that ginger sitting around from the curry I never got around to making, I guess), and managed to bring myself to eat some poppy-seed roll (did I mention the lack of appetite combined with incredible hunger? It goes well with the physical exhaustion and inability to bring myself to sleep.).

At least it hasn't started affecting my vision yet, as it usually does. Allergy season seems to reduce the effectiveness of my lenses for some reason.

Ok, enough whining. In other news, have applied to a couple of jobs. We'll see.

G'luck (with the allergy kicking and with the job app.s).

Yeah, allergy season's been hellish this year.

allergy season has been killer on the eyes this year. all the allergy patients I've seen have been complaining about the horrible eye symptoms when it's usually not their main complaint.

If it goes to your eyes, you could try chrysanthemum tea. no garuntees, but can be quite helpful.

Just make the tea *really* strong. Personally, I'd actually get the bulk flowers, drop a spoonful or two into a pot of water, simmer for 15min or so, and drink that. (watch out for flavor, but it should help)

You can also make your ginger tea that way. just slice (less work) & simmer until slightly dark (15-25 min). *plenty* of ginger flavor.

Do you . . . I mean, if you're going to make yerself a ginger tisane and you have ginger, what do you do to transform that ginger into a steepable substance? Do you, like, dice it up and put it in a tea ball?

Also, hi. This is Matt—we both crashed chez [livejournal.com profile] emergent at the last ProCon.

Ahhhh, gotcha. I should pass this on to my roomate, who's a seeerious ginger-liker.

Re the vocab word, please disregard any wanky corrective vibe. None was intended—every time I make the "tisane"/"tea" distinction out loud I feel pretentious.
