I don't really like posting here just to whine (which might explain why I don't post all that often), but I'm going to anyway. My allergies have been acting up this week, leading to poor sleep, rampant sneezing and blowing of the nose, and, now, a sore throat that's making it difficult to breathe.
Have just made myself a pot of ginger tea (good thing I had that ginger sitting around from the curry I never got around to making, I guess), and managed to bring myself to eat some poppy-seed roll (did I mention the lack of appetite combined with incredible hunger? It goes well with the physical exhaustion and inability to bring myself to sleep.).
At least it hasn't started affecting my vision yet, as it usually does. Allergy season seems to reduce the effectiveness of my lenses for some reason.
Ok, enough whining. In other news, have applied to a couple of jobs. We'll see.

If it goes to your eyes, you could try chrysanthemum tea. no garuntees, but can be quite helpful.

I grate the ginger. I usually use the ceramic strainer that came with my tea pot, but I've used a regular strainer in the past, and a tea ball should work as well. Just make sure the juice gets into the pot, that's probably where most of the flavor comes from. (It would almost be more accurate to refer to the whole thing as hot water flavored with some juices) Add a splash of lemon juice to a pot (the original recipe calls for quite a bit, but I don't really like the flavor as well if it noticeably tastes of lemon), and a couple dashes of cayenne pepper. Sweeten with honey ('cause it's also soothing on the throat).
I tried dicing the ginger, and it didn't have nearly as much flavor.
Oh, and hi. I recognized your username, actually, from comments on other LJs.

Re the vocab word, please disregard any wanky corrective vibe. None was intended—every time I make the "tisane"/"tea" distinction out loud I feel pretentious.
