Damn but I am having a hard time getting back into this.
[11:20 - 13:20] I actually awoke at around 12:15, and got myself up enough that I went to the computer and pulled my AIM out of Away. I must have put my head down again for a moment shortly after that...'cause I don't remember much between then and when I awoke again at 13:20. Doh! More food, more directed activity, more standing, less lying down are clearly in orer.
[17:30 - 19:00] I was doing so well. At about 6 minutes left on the timer I awoke from a nice light sleep and looked around and thought, "Hmmm, been a while...let me check to make sure I didn't sleep through the timer." I hadn't. A bit over 6 minutes left. Well, I should lie down for the full half-hour, right? Wrong! Never heard the timer go off; slept right through it. Lessons learned: replace timer with something louder for a few days, especially if A/C is on. If I wake up by myself with a few minutes left, just get up, I'll be happier for it.
Ok, no point in kicking myself too much over this...today's been pretty humbling. The point here is to learn more about how I sleep and possibly add some life-improving tools to my toolbox. I may be able to get some good datapoints about the length of a full sleep cycle from these notes, at the very least...

With the experiment...the average is still about the same, I guess. The times when I'm feeling particularly exhausted (like the noonish and afternoon naps) I fall asleep somewhere between instantaneously and a couple of minutes. The ones in the middle of the night . . . I seem to spend a lot of them thinking, although for the last few days I've definitely felt like I lay there thinking, and then suddenly the alarm was going off and I couldn't remember the last few minutes. Probably realistically averaging 5-10 minutes on those.
I'm glad it's interesting.
