I got a cast iron skillet in the mail yesterday morning (Thank you amazon.com for your recent Housewares sale. $8.99 shipped. Thank you slickdeals for making me aware of it.), seasoned it last night, and decided to inaugurate it with bacon (good for the seasoning) this morning.

Bacon is delicious, cast iron rocks, and bacon fat is awesome to cook in. None of this is news, but it all bears repeating.

(Quick update while I'm here for those who don't know: I'm car-enabled now. I keep meaning to post about that. There may be an upcoming post about other stuff I've spent money on, too. SD is neat, and a good brief procrastination.)

Also, spring!

Yes, cast iron does rock. we abuse our pan mightily. Potato Pancakes are also excellent for (re)seasoning them. That, and we'll take any flimsy excuse for making potato pancakes...

and yay for a car! most useful.

Ooooo, car. Car shiny.

(As a teenager who is slowly (slooooowly) working towards her lisence, cars are strangely fascinating.)

What kind?

Also, cooking = all sorts of wins, though I don't know that I've ever had anything cooked in baconfat.
