Speaking of formal dress, CVD will be hosting a Ragtime Ball this coming Saturday, 5 May, 2007 in Melrose, MA. It should be a lot of fun. Live music by Spare Parts! More information at Take-The-Cake Ragtime Ball, 2007.

I encourage everybody to go. Ragtime dance is pretty easy to pick up even if you don't know it. (If you can walk in time to music, you can One Step. Seriously.) While period-style dress is preferred, anything dressy is acceptable.

I'll almost certainly be there showing off my tails. The bit of uncertainty is because I haven't figured out how to be in two places at once, and I'm being encouraged to go to Founder's Day at Vassar. I wonder when I'd have to leave FD to make the ball...how insane am I this week?
