It's now confirmed, I'll be at the following this weekend:
- Elm City Waltz Friday, 7:45pm until 11:30pm, New Haven, CT. About half to 2/3 waltz, the rest an assortment of other cool couple dances. Relatively casual dress, casual atmosphere, fun music. A little bit of teaching, mostly dancing. This event is drawing a really nice assortment of dancers of different ages and experience, which makes it a lot of fun.
- Take-the-Cake Ball Saturday, 8pm until 11pm, Melrose, MA. Set in the nineteen-teens, with live music (we love Spare Parts). Semi-formal+ dress preferred, period-appearing even better.
- Elegant Arts workshops Sunday, 1pm - 6pm, New York, NY. Regency followed by Early Ragtime (new waltz and two-step).
And, looking forward a couple of weeks, EAS is hosting a Ragtime Ball on 19 May in New Haven, CT. Workshop in the afternoon, ball in the evening, stroll in the park and outdoor games followed by tea and parlor games Sunday.
Hope to see some of you.
P.S. I haven't entirely ruled out the possibility of sneaking down to Founder's Day between Elm City and the Take-the-Cake, although that level of insanity isn't looking too likely. It's, what, an extra 4 hours of driving?
