Sign that I'm not a stereotypical bachelor: It occurred to me to make a vegetable to go with my dinner.

...Because it took me a while to conceive of the sort of dinner where that wouldn't be the cue to throw some frozen peas or broccoli into the microwave with the rest of the things on the plate. =D

Nah. That implies that you routinely include vegetables with your dinner. I think I'm still hitting the stereotype more. ;)
Also, if it's going on the plate before going into the microwave, I'd consider that part of cooking, not plating. This would be more like noticing, as you took off the Saran Wrap, that maybe vegetables would be a good idea.

But yes, you have me with the vegetables. Dinner isn't really dinner without something green in it.
Still... does it count as realization-during-plating when you discover that you have foolishly poured the water from the pasta without first adding the peas, and so throw some frozen peas onto the plate under the noodles in the hope that they will thaw by the time the (straight out of the jar in the fridge) tomato sauce gets there?
I think it does.

Ummmm, yes, yes it does. Since that's pretty much exactly the moment I realized I hadn't made vegetables. Except I decided it was too late.
