Driving home from a very pleasant family dinner last night, I was scanning the radio and came across "All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You". I think, "Hmmm, ok, cool, I'll stick to this station for a bit." The song ends, and the station announces the radio program that's currently on, "Love Songs at Night"

Now, granted, the song is (obviously) about making love, and it definitely has content describing a number of different kinds of love, and I think there's something quite beautiful about the song, but I'm not really sure it fits in the "love song" genre, as I understand it.

Go, go gadget cognitive dissonance.

Isn't that one of Chris E.'s favourite songs?

I was never too fond of it, actually. But that was the arrangement and the songwriting rather than the subject matter.

Well, I'm guessing according to the Johnny Cash idea that all songs are about Love, Something, or Death (damn it, I can't remember the middle one — Politics, maybe?) that that song would be in the Love category.

But then again, those categorizations are probably just a bunch of bollocks.

Look at me. I'm too wired and body-clock-fucked to be asleep. ::wry grin::
